Best Deals to George Town, Grand Cayman
We did a bit of souvenir shopping and even stopped by Margaritaville for a drink before catching a taxi to the white sands of 7-mile beach. There was four of us so we found a minivan taxi and got quoted $20 total for the one-way trip. Unfortunately, we got dropped off at a beach club that required us to pay another $2-3 per person to enter. There was a restaurant and a stretch of beach with lots of lounge chairs but it was very crowded and not what we were looking for. We paid our admission fee and made our way down the beach toward a more deserted stretch of sand (there were still quite a few people). After departing Montego Bay, the ship sails the Caribbean and Panama Canal for two days before making its next stop at Colón, Panama, for an optional visit to Indigenous villages or a walk around the colorful city.

A big part of planning a cruise vacation to the Caribbean is deciding where you want to go. Pick a mega-ship, and you'll generally be limited to the big ports that can accommodate the large vessels operated by cruise lines like Carnival and Royal Caribbean. The Cayman Islands Carnival, also known as "Batabano," is an annual celebration deeply rooted in the local culture. This colorful and lively event typically takes place in late April or early May, attracting both locals and visitors. The festival spans several days filled with vibrant parades, energetic music, dance performances, and elaborate costumes that reflect the rich heritage of the islands.
When you book with one of our partners, please be sure to check their site for a full disclosure of all applicable fees as required by the U.S. Whether you're interested in discovering pirate history, hiking through the rain forest to see waterfalls, or searching for the best jerk chicken on the island, you're bound to find a cruise itinerary that suits you. Jamaica is one of the most popular Caribbean destinations, and if you've ever lounged on one of the island's gorgeous beaches with a fruit-filled rum punch in hand, it's easy to understand why. You can fly there (direct from New York City in four hours, at that), but many prefer the experience of island hopping via a Caribbean cruise.
We offer staterooms ranging from interior cabins to full suites, and we even offer connected rooms for families with more than four members traveling together. The history of Batabano dates back to the late 1980s when a group of locals aimed to create a festival that would celebrate the diverse cultural heritage of the Cayman Islands. The term "Batabano" is derived from the tracks left by the turtles as they crawl onto the beach to nest—a significant event in Caymanian culture.

Cruise visits to the islands are approaching 30 million each year, and cruise lines are adding new destinations to their itineraries all the time. Following Cayman Island’s government decision to lift the ban on cruise ships, a total of 21 ships will visit from Monday, 21 March, through April 17.
